Farewell Celtics Basketball

I must admit today was mixed with joy and sadness.  As I tried to hold back the tears, I hugged my daughter as the tears ran down her face.  They lost to Orcutt for the 3rd spot in todays school basketball tourney but that was not the reason for the sadness and tears.  Today, on the 4th year of this journey, she will no longer wear the Saint Paticks Catholic School Celtics basketball uniform.  Season is over, and she will enter high school at another school next season.  Lord willing, she will wear another uniform and play basketball.

As she wept and said "I dont want to be over", I simply said that that I understand.  I hugged her and reminded her that this chapter is over and there will be more to write.

Praise God for these wonderful folks and experiences along the way.  So grateful for everyone involved and especially Coach Rob Burt and Coach Horace Grant for giving her a start and letting her release this passion and gift.

Tow the line Amber!

Amber had a great season on the 7th grade Basketball team with St. Pats.  Many of you already know she has been on the team since 5th grade.  She had a fantastic year and really contributed. 

Couple of quick stats - Amber hit 100 points with about 3 games left in the year and lead point score on the team.  Her last game against Mesa, they won by three points.  Amber scored 16 of the 30 points contributing to the win.

Amber works hard in practice and on the court.  I am grateful for the staff that work with her and looking forward to what next year brings...

Go Celtics!

Amber has shown promise in basketball.  She loves the sport, has a deadly shot, and her passion for team sports is growing.

Last summer, the St. Patrick School coach asked Jenn and I if we would allow Amber to play on the 7th grade basketball team.  Amber is currently in 5th grade.  After some counseling with the coach, we gave the decision our blessing.  Since then, there is no dissapointment in the decision.

Amber is the second 5th grader in recent St. Pats history to be moved up.  Coach belives she shows promise and dedication and wanted to extend greater growth and opportunity.  So far, it has been a delight to watch our 10 year old (now 11 since Jan.) wake early (545a), pack her food and clothing for the day, and hit the gym for drills and learning.  She is holding her own on the court and learning constantly.  We did not know how competetive local girls basketball is!

So Grateful for the coaching staff and the supportive young ladies on the team.  Moving forward in this journey of faith and adventure that the Lord provides.  Praise God for this adventure!
